No one i sgoing ot hire you to work at home unless you have a minimum of 1 year of on-the-job experience, though most companies require more than that.

Going to an online school that has no major accredications will not get you a job with anyone. Going to a reputable school, like an appropriately accredited communitiy college, may get you a job.

The best way is to get a job with a hospital or doctor’s office. they will usually require you to work for them for 6 months to a year before they will allow you to go home. And of course not all places will even let you work at home anyway.

So nothing is guaranteed, and it’s a big risk.

I am happy to see that you are considering the 3 top schools. All offer job placement and that is what is of the utmost importance when chosing a school. Without job placement from your school it would be very difficult to get that first job.

All 3 of the schools you are considering have payment plans.

While the face of medical transcription is changing, my opinion is that this is an excellent career choice in these tough economic times. There is little likelihood of layoffs. The pay is above average. Some people say it doesn’t pay well. Working at home comes with its own challenges and you must be focused and self-disciplined. Medical transcription is one of a few careers that the U.S. Dept. of Labor projects to grow by 16% by 2015.

Its in extreme high demand and the money depends on how many hours you are willing to put into it. If you can market yourself to various doctor offices or at least get one busy doctor who can utilize your service, you are in business. I had a client who thought that working out of his home as a medical transciber would cause him less stress. Not so, it was so demanding that he was working more than 70 hours a week including his weekends.

This is a question you should ask IN THE JOB INTERVIEW. Many companies do offer insurance to part time employees, regardless of field. Most do not.
